UNITED IN HOPE
TOGETHER WITH THE COMMUNITY, WE CONTINUE OUR PURSUIT OF A WORLD FREE OF MS!
On October 6, 2019, Albert’s Diamond Jewelers proudly hosted its 16th annual Multiple Sclerosis auction that raised more than $355,000 for those affected by the disease. Over the previous 15
years, we have donated more than 2 million dollars to the National MS Society Indiana Chapter, and it would not have been possible without the entire community coming together in love and support.
Over 40 years ago, Donna Halpern, Fred’s wife and Josh’s mother, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which is a chronic degenerative disease that attacks the central nervous system. Josh recalls that the disease progressed slowly, but eventually took over his mother’s ability to walk, which is a common result of the attack on the central nervous system.
Donna has been an instrumental part of the success of Albert’s charity causes, displaying strength and perseverance as she battles
this disease. By giving to the Indiana Chapter, we are so humbly honored to help financially support nearly 8,000 Hoosiers in 90 counties living with MS. Funds come from a variety of outlets including cash donations, vendors, community members, and other donors. “We ask our vendors to donate an item that we can auction off. We have no minimum bids and we have no cost involved in the items, so whatever we get, we get, and we donate that money to charity,” Josh explains.
Because of overwhelming support, in 2019 we surpassed last year’s record-breaking fundraising effort. Albert’s Jewelers is recognized as hosting the largest independent fundraising event in the country. National representatives from the MS Society traveled to be a part of our event’s success and glean ideas to share with other supporters.
